President Barack Obama’s health care law risks coming unglued because of his own inflated promises and his administration’s bungled start in putting the overhaul into place.

The president needs breakthroughs on three fronts.

One is the cancellations mess. Then there are the technology troubles. And finally, there’s a crisis in confidence among his own supporters.

What’s working in his favor?

There’s the pent-up demand for the program’s benefits, and he has an unlikely collaborator in the insurance industry.

At this point odds still favor the Affordable Care Act’s survival.

But even after Obama gets the enrollment website working, count on new controversies.

Here’s one on the horizon: the potential impact on job-based insurance as the law’s mandate that larger employers offer coverage takes effect in 2015.
