NEW YORK
New York City police say a 60-year-old blind man and his seeing eye dog tumbled onto subway tracks and were struck by a slow-moving train.

The accident happened during morning rush hour Tuesday on the A train at 145th Street.

Police say the man and his 11-year-old black Labrador, Orlando, stumbled and fell onto the tracks. The motorman slowed the train and they were not badly hurt. Both are in stable condition. The dog was with the man at a hospital.

Police are investigating, but no criminal behavior is suspected. They say the lab is a certified seeing eye dog.
