Pelosi and Reid Record Mandela Tributes for Film

Hopping on the Nelson Mandela publicity bandwagon, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) have now filmed tribute videos designed to be released with the new film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Pelosi said in a video interview, “There are very few people who existed in the history of the world who measure up to his standard. In a beautiful, spiritual way, he made strong political change and affected the lives of people in a very positive way.”

Reid stated, “I think the most important thing that I’ve learned as a leader here in the United States is patience. Wait. Don’t be in a rush because there are better opportunities sometimes if you’re patient to do the right thing, even better than you could have the first time. Nelson Mandela’s legacy to me is one of waiting, waiting, waiting until the opportunity comes to be the person that you have trained yourself to be while you’ve been waiting.”
