Women Driving Newfound Opposition to Obamacare

Women Driving Newfound Opposition to Obamacare

Even though Obamacare was marketed heavily to women when President Barack Obama accused Republicans of waging a “war on women” during the 2012 campaign while using “the life of Julia” to promote the legislation, women are now the driving force behind the law’s opposition.

A recent CNN/ORC poll found that 60% of women now oppose Obamacare and nearly “all of the newfound opposition is coming from women.”

“Opposition to Obamacare rose six points among women, from 54% in November to 60% now, while opinion of the new law remained virtually unchanged among men,” CNN Polling Director Keating Holland said. “That’s bad news for an administration that is reaching out to moms across the country in an effort to make Obamacare a success.”

Just 35% of Americans support Obamacare and 62% oppose the law. The poll was conducted December 16-19 and has a margin of error of +/- three percentage points.
