A Canton, Michigan woman was arrested after replacing the Visine in her husband’s bottle with bleach in October. Kristy Ryan McDermed, 35, told police that she switched the solutions to get revenge on her husband after they fought.
Detective Sgt Chad Baugh told KSDK, “He felt a burning sensation and could smell what appeared to be bleach.” He added in an interview with WXYZ, “I’ve never seen a case like this in my 18 years. It’s incredible that this person came out of this with very minor injuries.” The incident apparently did not cause permanent injury to the husband’s eyes. Mrs. McDermed could be held in jail for as many as 93 days in jail along with a $500 fine.
Detective Baugh also alleged that Mrs. McDermed went on Craigslist and placed an ad looking to hire someone to assault her husband. The police are checking reports that the husband may have abused Mrs. McDermed.
