Man Charged with Hate Crime for Alleged Assaults on Seven Women

NEW YORK, Jan. 4 (UPI) —
A New York man who allegedly attacked seven women in Jewish neighborhoods in Brooklyn, possibly as part of a “knockout game,” has been charged with hate crimes.

Barry Baldwin, 35, who lives in Brooklyn, allegedly attacked one woman in early November, another in early December and five more between Dec. 21 and Dec. 27, CNN reported Saturday. Investigators say the assaults may have been linked to the “knockout game,” in which contestants supposedly try to make victims unconscious.

The victims ranged in age from 20 to 78, police said. Most of them were Jewish.

The charges include assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment as a hate crime, police said.
