White House on Lockdown After Man Jumps Fence

WASHINGTON, Feb. 7 (UPI) — The White House in Washington was placed on lockdown Friday after a man tried to jump over a fence onto the grounds, the Secret Service said.

The Secret Service said police apprehended the man before he could clear the fence.

Investigators were planning to examine two bags the man was carrying.

President Barack Obama was not at the White House at the time of the incident. The president traveled to Michigan Friday, where he signed the just-passed farm bill.
