Dems Double Down, Squash Repeal of CO 'High Capacity' Magazine Ban

On February 10th, a House committee dominated by Democrats voted against the repeal of Colorado’s ban on “high capacity” magazines, even though law enforcement says the ban is cumbersome and unenforceable.

Prior to the vote, Breitbart News reported that the committee was led by Democrats by a margin of 7 to 4.

The Denver Post reports that supporters of the ban told the House committee, “People caught in a mass shooting deserve a chance to survive. We should not let mass shooters mow people down.”

In December 2012, Breitbart News reported on the investigation by a Virginia Tech Review Panel which found that a “high capacity” magazine ban “would have not made that much difference” in the April 2007 shooting on the VT campus. However, the report did contain interviews with VT students who have concealed carry permits, and these indicated that allowing more good guys with guns on campus makes it harder for bad guys with guns to ply their trade.

In November, Democrats are expected to face Republican challengers who will  run against the failed repeal of the “high capacity” magazine ban.
