Wyoming House Passes Bill to Arm Teachers and School Workers

On February 13th, the Wyoming Legislature voted 54 to 6 to permit individual school districts “to allow teachers and other school workers” with concealed carry permits to carry guns on campus.

Fox News reports the bill was sponsored by Representative John Eklund (R-Cheyenne). 

Eklund said he believes time is of the essence, and the state “needs to act on the issue urgently.” He said, “There’s little if any law enforcement in many rural areas,” adding that “school workers need to be ready to protect themselves and their students.”

An even broader bill is being co-sponsored by Representative Kendell Kroeker (R-Evansville). This bill would allow anyone with a concealed carry permit–not just teachers and school workers–to bring a gun on campus.
