Fifty-Year-Old Detroit Woman Shoots, Kills Home Invader

On February 28th, a 50-year-old Detroit homeowner shot and killed an invader trying to break into her home.

According to The Detroit News, the woman heard noises coming from a back window about 3:30 p.m. and went to investigate. She found a man trying to break in and told him to “stop,” but the man continued trying to come through the window.

Police say the homeowner then ran to the next room to retrieve her handgun, returned, and fired a shot, hitting the intruder in the chest. Police said the man “ran off and collapsed in the street. He was found by responding officers and conveyed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.”

This incident marked the third time in two weeks “that a gun-wielding female opened fire on home invaders in Detroit.”

Detroit Police 3rd Deputy Chief Rodney Johnson said, “This seems to be sending a message to criminals: It’s not safe to break into someone’s house. These criminals need to find another vocation, because crime in Detroit no longer pays.”
