A story running on The Truth about Guns and other websites suggested firearm conglomerate Freedom Group could potentially be purchased by “smart gun” manufacturer Global Digital Solutions, Inc. (GDSI).
The implication is that GDSI would buy Freedom Group, forcing Remington, Bushmaster, DPMS, H&R, and other manufacturers under Freedom’s umbrella to adopt “smart gun” technology.
The Truth about Guns even released a January press report in which GDSI President and CEO Richard Sullivan referenced using “digital technology to enhance safety and security in the small arms arena.”
But on March 12th, a source close to Freedom Group told Breitbart News that GDSI’s offer to buy the group “was a completely unsolicited offer.” Moreover, the source described the offer “as a publicity stunt from a company that has no funding.”
When pressed for more information, the source simply said Freedom Group will not be purchased by GDSI.
