On April 7th, a family in Winter Haven, Florida, shot and killed a home intruder.
According to WSAV 3, 27-year-old Luis Pena discovered a home intruder “rattling the french doors leading off a back porch area” and fired a warning shot “trying to scare [him] off.”
When this did not work, Pena retreated to the kitchen where his parents were armed, as well.
The intruder made it through the doors, walked into the kitchen, and “continued to charge at the residents.” All three of them then opened fire.
Police received a burglary call “around 6:50 a.m.” When they arrived, they found “40-year-old Mitchell Large dead in the residence.”
A neighbor, though surprised by the incident, said that “he would do the same thing if his family was in harm’s way.”
