PA bride Christina George-Harvan charged with killing niece Katelyn Francis hours after wedding [VID

NEW BRIGHTON, Pa., April 25 (UPI) —

A Pennsylvania woman spent her wedding night behind bars after allegedly killing her niece following an argument about who would drive home from a New Brighton bar.

Christina Nicole George-Harvan, 30, reportedly pulled out a gun and fatally shot 21-year-old Katelyn Francis after the pair had been out celebrating with the groom.

“It’s a shame it happened, but I believe alcohol was a major factor in this,” New Brighton Police Chief Charles Vanfossan told WTAE. “Evidently, the two had just married. They were celebrating their marriage with several friends and relatives. We believe all three were arguing over who was going to be the designated driver.”

George-Harvan has been charged with one count of homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of reckless endangerment.

The gun George-Harvan used belonged to her new husband, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.

According to the paper, Francis was a single mother with a son who was her “No. 1 thing in life.”
