Sarah Palin Endorses Dan Bongino for Congress

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin endorsed Maryland Congressional candidate, former Secret Service agent for Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and best-selling author Dan Bongino Friday.

Palin called Bongino, who is running in Maryland’s Sixth Congressional District, a “unique candidate in politics today” because “his boots on the ground experience in Washington, D.C. has given him the wisdom and warrior spirit we need to stop the far left liberal agenda that is fundamentally transforming America.”

Palin cited Bongino’s background of “rigorous training as a U.S. Secret Service agent.” She said he will “put to good use the positive characteristics that have been instilled in him with tenacity and dedication to principles.”

“I was proud to support Dan’s candidacy in 2010 for U.S. Senate against an entrenched liberal in a state that many in the GOP had long abandoned. We’re not giving up!” she wrote. “Maryland deserves the best, and Congress sure needs the help, so Dan is back, more prepared than ever! It’s an honor to support Dan in his bid to reclaim a very important Congressional seat.”

Palin mentioned that these “elections are more than just liberal vs. conservative or Republican vs. Democrat – it’s come down to us vs. them – the people vs. the politicians,” and Bongino is running for the right reasons.

“We need more of ‘We the People’ – like Dan – to take on Washington and take our country back,” Palin said, noting that Bongino was a “staunch defender of our liberties and Constitution.”

“Dan will be an important voice for our cause in Congress. As a Secret Service agent, Dan has seen first hand the ugly underbelly of Washington, D.C. behind the scenes – backroom deals and crony capitalism at its worst. He knows better than most what we are up against and how to combat it. Let’s cede no ground in the fight to restore America in 2014,” Palin said.

As Breitbart News reported, Bongino has always stood up for Palin, even in a Washington “bubble” full of phonies on both sides of the aisle who find it “cool” to trash Palin behind her back to be liked by more establishment figures. Bongino even gave up an opportunity to promote his book on Martin Bashir’s show after Bashir suggested someone should urinate and defecate in Palin’s mouth.

Bongino had been booked before those comments that eventually led to Bashir’s ouster to promote his best-selling book, Life Inside the Bubble, but he told Breitbart News then that he, in good faith, could not appear on the program.

“In light of these comments I felt it only appropriate to cancel my appearance on the show. Governor Palin took a principled chance on me during my U.S. Senate campaign when few would,” Bongino told Breitbart News. “She put herself out there for me, risking her political capital, and chose to endorse me because she believed in me.”

He went on: “In a political arena filled with bad actors it was refreshing to know that Governor Palin was willing to fight for the underdog. She deserves better than the treatment she received by Mr. Bashir and I cannot, in good faith, appear on the show, regardless of the number of books it may or may not sell.”

Palin has always cited Bongino as someone who would be a different kind of politician who would stand for principle and fight against entrenched interests, and Bongino’s actions have proven that he is that type of person.
