Republican NE Sen. Candidate Sid Dinsdale Made 'Questionable' Donations to Dems

A GOP Senate candidate in Nebraska who is claiming to be a “lifelong Republican” has not only donated to many Democrats but also believes that pro-life causes are not worth fighting for.

Sid Dinsdale is third in the polls before the May 13 primary against more establishment Republican Shane Osborn and conservative Ben Sasse, who has been endorsed by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Sens. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT) and has surged to a six-point lead in the polls.

Dinsdale said last year that though he is “pro-life,” he sees “a time in our country where you have to set aside something like that and try to work on the things you can get done.” His sister also has served on the board of Planned Parenthood.

According to a ForAmerica report, Dinsdale’s questionable donations to Democrats include a $2,300 contribution in 2008 to Democrat Anthony Raimondo, who was challenging Sen. Mike Johanns (R-NE), and a $500 donation in 2004 to Democrat Nancy Thompson, who was running against Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE). Dinsdale also donated to Democrat Rep. Peter Hoagland in 1989.

Sasse started gaining momentum in the race after staunchly opposing Obamacare and criticizing the GOP establishment in D.C. for not fighting fiercely enough against it.
