Video Debunks Myths About Gun Show Background Checks

Media Research Center’s Dan Joseph took cameras to The Nation’s Gun Show in Chantilly, Virginia on April 25, and found law-abiding citizens selling guns to law-abiding citizens.

He also found a small bin of squirt guns and laughed, suggesting they were placed on the table “for Democrats when they come.”

In the video, Joseph interviews vendors and asks if they sell guns to all comers. They made it clear that they do not sell to felons, to those mentally impaired, or those who simply look like they might not be on the up and up.

Joseph asked one vendor what he would do if a purchaser came up and the vendor thought he was “mentally imbalanced” or “a gang member” and the vendor said: “All I have to do is say, ‘I’m not interested, have a nice day.'”

The largest vendors to whom Joseph spoke were doing criminal and mental background checks on all gun sales.

He pulled one such vendor aside and said, “The left likes to say, ‘Oh, we don’t want to take your guns away; we just want basic safeguards like background checks and stuff like that. Do you think they are telling the truth?”

The vendor responded, “We already do that. We already do everything they ask for.”

“So what do they really want? What’s their main goal?” Joseph asked.

“They want to take your guns,” the vendor answered.
