Home Invasion Suspect Stabs Homeowner, Gets Shot Three Times

On June 1 a homeowner in Coalville, Iowa, was stabbed in the neck by a robbery suspect but was then able to shoot the invader three times in the stomach.

According to KCCI News 8, police said someone knocked on the homeowner’s door “shortly after 6 a.m.” When he opened the door, the suspect reportedly slashed at him with a knife, cutting his neck.

The homeowner then “used a handgun to fire three shots into the [suspect’s] torso.”

The suspect was able to get back in his car and “drive five miles away from the scene… just south of Fort Dodge, where police ultimately found him.”

KCCI reports that “The suspect was airlifted to a Des Moines hospital, and the homeowner was taken to a hospital in Fort Dodge.”

Webster County Sheriff Jim Stubbs believes the suspect’s intention was “to rob the home.”
