Double Amputee Sits On Burglar, Holds Him Down Until Police Arrive

On June 21 a  Dayton, Ohio woman found an intruder in her home and screamed for her husband, who got out of his wheel chair, struck the burglar “with a glass liquor bottle,” and sat on him until police arrived.

The 34-year-old husband is a double amputee with prosthetic legs.

According to WHIO, the home was “ransacked” when the wife discovered the intruder–49-year-old Joseph Copeland–in the house. He ran past her as she screamed for her husband, who then used the liquor bottle to quiet things down.

Police said “the suspect was bleeding from the head and pinned to the floor with the handicap victim sitting on top of him” when they arrived.

Both men were taken to the hospital.
