Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) reacted to a series of losses from Tea Party-endorsed candidates in the Senate, including Chris McDaniel’s narrow loss to Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) in Mississippi and T.W. Shannon’s loss to Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) in Oklahoma.
In an emailed statement to Breitbart News, Cruz pointed out that it was “striking” to see both Republican and Democrat incumbents struggling in competitive re-election campaigns, often spending millions to win by a thin margin.
Even though McDaniel lost to Cochran, Cruz said that it was important for incumbent Republicans to be mindful of the conservative movement.
Cruz reminded Tea Party supporters that in spite of their losses, he was committed to helping the Republican party win a majority in the Senate.
