163 Dem Reps Demand Boehner Allow Vote on 'Substantive' Gun Control Legislation

On June 26, Democrats signed a letter demanding House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) allow a vote on “substantive” gun control legislation.

The letter was signed by 163 Democrats–a figure that represents “over 80% of their entire caucus.”

According to MSNBC, the letter says, “Gun violence has affected constituents in every Congressional district, and as their representatives, Members of Congress deserve the opportunity to vote on bills that would address this epidemic.”

The letter claims there have been “74 school shootings” since the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary. This figure comes from Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group and includes stabbings as well as incidents with no injuries or fatalities.

On May 1, Breitbart News reported Independents overwhelmingly side with Republicans over Democrats on the issue of gun rights.
