Hillary Takes Six-Figure Speaking Fees From Universities Raising Student Tuition

The Washington Post reports that likely 2016 presidential contender Hillary Clinton made somewhere around $1.8 million from eight universities in just nine months. While paying the former Secretary of State anywhere from $200,000 to $300,000 per speech, some of these schools were raising tuition prices on students already burdened by the growing student loan bubble.

Clinton was paid $251,250 from the University of Connecticut not long after the school hit its students with 6.5% tuition increase. At UNLV, where tuition will jump 17% within the next four years, Clinton accepted a $225,000 speaking fee. The student government has since sent Clinton a letter asking her to return the money:

“The students are outraged about this,” said Elias Benjelloun, UNLV’s student body president. “When you see reckless spending, it just belittles the sacrifices students are consistently asked to make. I’m not an accountant or economist, so I can’t put a price tag on how much we should be paying her, but I think she should come for free.”

Clinton’s spokesman, Nick Merrill, declined to comment on the UNLV students’ request.

The Clintons are reportedly worth somewhere around $100 million, and have been since 2007, which makes you wonder how much is enough for them? How rich can they get? How much better can they live? How much more can they buy?

There is nothing wrong with making money or getting rich, but maybe once you hit the $10 or $25 million mark, maybe it’s time to think about giving back.

It’s not as though the Clintons are making this money in exchange for risking their own capital and producing something, like jobs or wealth for other people, in the same way Mitt Romney and the Koch brothers earned their wealth. Hillary is producing and risking nothing. She’s cashing in bigtime on her celebrity from liberal academics and doing so at the expense of students.

The Washington Post also reports that four of these eight universities are public institutions, which means that taxpayer money might be involved.

This whole scheme sure sounds like a legalized way for left-wing academics to make the Clintons filthy rich using other people’s money — including, possibly, taxpayer’s.

Hillary has had a tough time in the media these past few weeks. She should rest easy, though, because it’s all a ruse. By “vetting” Hillary now, come the 2016 campaign when the media does everything in its power to elect her, the media can claim this is all “old news” and go about the business of destroying the GOP nominee over something someone else said about rape, or something.
