Search “Chase and LGBT” on the Internet, and you will see the controversial Chase employee survey on LGBT dominates the results. Moreover, the issue shows no signs of abating.
A Chase employee who reached out to Professor Robert George of Princeton through his Facebook page started all this. Professor George put the item up on the legal blog Mirror of Justice, then Breitbart wrote the story, and it has gone viral.
Professor George arranged for Breitbart to interview the employee, whose name and location will remain confidential.
Many on the sexual left are questioning the authenticity of the survey. The whistleblower assured Breitbart News that it was real. He also provided a second employee who backed up the story.
The Chase whistleblower told Breitbart News that a survey has been circulated through all Chase business lines for many years, though a break was taken after 2008 when the survey showed widespread employee dissatisfaction. It was resumed a few years ago. Up to now, he said, the survey was noncontroversial, asking questions related to company performance, employee happiness, performance of management, etc.
The survey is completed strictly online and was opened for answers in February. The whistleblower underscored that each employee answering the survey had to include his employee number.
He said, “The survey was usually kind of irrelevant.” He said employees were not required to answer the survey but that there are strong and regular suggestions from management that each employee ought to. Something like 88% of employees filled it out this year.
What caused the controversy this year was this question: “Are you an ally of the LGBT community…?”
“I looked at that question and it really annoyed me. I was nervous, but more than that, I was angry and frustrated.” The whistleblower wants to know how the answer to that question has anything to do with doing his job at the bank where he has worked for many years. We will not reveal the length of his service since we want to ensure nothing leads back to him, because now he fears for his job.
He told Breitbart News, “When your company is asking you if you are an ally of this community, it’s not like they are asking you if you like the Cleveland Browns. It makes you wonder what could happen. They are asking this for some reason. It will compel someone to do something. I am afraid I could lose my job or have it used to stack the deck against me.”
Asked if he feared further diversity training because he did not check the box about supporting the LGBT community, he said, “Reeducation? I would chuckle at the notion – and then I think of the baker who had to have reeducation. I did not think too deeply at the time, but more diversity training could be a possibility.”
The whistleblower describes a corporate atmosphere inundated with the LGBT message. The LGBT employees have access to the Chase intranet and regularly send out messages to all employees. The whistleblower, who is a religious believer, said, “There ought to be more ways of being diverse than this one. Diversity here is uniformity of opinion.”
The whistleblower says he is not the only one who objects. His boss didn’t like it either. Neither did other employees, one of whom stepped forward and confirmed the whistleblower’s account. Yet another employee who is a national from a conservative Muslim country where Chase has a presence said the LGBT question was certainly not asked there.
Why did the whistleblower come forward? “I wanted to get it out there because I was upset the way the company is going. I like Chase. This question really offended me. I have my religious views, and they hold great weight in my life.”
The whistleblower made it clear, however, that his religious views are not part of the diversity program at JP Morgan Chase.
