Rick Perry Accepts Obama Invitation to Border Meeting to Be Held in North TX

On Tuesday, Texas Gov. Rick Perry reportedly agreed to meet with President Barack Obama on Wednesday to discuss the border crisis.

But instead of scheduling the meeting near the border, Obama set up the meeting for North Texas.

After Perry asked for a “substantive meeting” on the border crisis, Obama had Valerie Jarrett, his top confidante, write a letter to Perry to tell him that Obama would “welcome” a meeting with Perry. Jarrett wrote that Obama “asked me to invite you to join him for a meeting to discuss the situation on the border with faith leaders and local elected officials in Dallas on Wednesday.”

As Breitbart News has reported, Obama will travel to Texas to attend three fundraisers for Democrats on Wednesday and Thursday, but he will not visit the border.

There have been at least 52,000 illegal immigrants who have crossed the border since October of last year, and Perry said he expects at least 160,000 more to try next year. The number of illegal immigrants who have unlawfully entered the country surged after President Obama unilaterally enacted his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2012.
