Ted Cruz to Obama: Have a 'Real' Meeting with Rick Perry at Border

After President Barack Obama finally decided to meet with Texas Governor Rick Perry to discuss the border crisis–in North Texas–Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Tuesday suggested that Obama move his meeting to the border in cities like McAllen or Laredo.

Cruz tweeted “a couple suggested detours” for Obama, if he “wants to have a real border meeting” with Perry. He suggested Obama could take a trip from Austin to Laredo or from Dallas to McAllen.

Obama will attend fundraisers for Democrats in Austin and Dallas, Texas this week, but he will not visit the border to see the crisis firsthand.

As Breitbart News has reported, “There have been at least 52,000 illegal immigrants who have crossed the border since October of last year, and Perry said he expects at least 160,000 more to try next year.” The number of illegal immigrant kids who have unlawfully entered the country started to surge the year after Obama unilaterally enacted his Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2012.

Cruz recently told Breitbart Texas that Obama’s “lawlessness” has been responsible for the spike in the number of illegal immigrants crossing the border.
