Poll: Majority of Hispanics Disapprove of Obama on Immigration

A majority of Hispanics disapprove of how President Barack Obama is handling the illegal immigration crisis.

In the 2012 election, 71% of Hispanics voted for Obama, but many have been disillusioned because he has not been able to ram through amnesty legislation. A Washington Post-ABC News poll found that 54% of Hispanics—and 58% of Americans–disapprove of Obama’s handling of the border crisis.

Obama won over many Hispanics by enacting, by executive fiat, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in 2012, but Hispanic activists want him to expand the temporary amnesty program to the parents of illegal immigrant children. They also want him to grant asylum to more illegal immigrant children who have unlawfully entered the country, partly because they have been lured with hopes of getting amnesty by the Obama administration’s actions and words.
