Sarah Palin on Border Crisis: 'What Did the President Know and When Did He Know It?'
The Washington Post‘s reporting brought down Richard Nixon. On Sunday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin wondered if it could do the same to President Barack Obama regarding his lawlessness on illegal immigration.
Palin, who called for Obama to be impeached on the pages of Breitbart News, demanded in a Facebook post that Congress get answers to two questions: “What did the President know and when did he know it?”
Palin mentioned that the Washington Post had a blockbuster piece on Saturday about how “top officials at the White House and the State Department had repeatedly been warned of the potential for a further explosion in the number of migrant children since the crisis began escalating two years ago.” The Postreported that the Obama administration knew about the flood of illegal immigrants from Central America for years but did nothing about it so Obama’s reelection was not jeopardized. The Obama administration did not want to highlight it because they also felt it could threaten their comprehensive amnesty bill.
Palin said Obama’s lawlessness on illegal immigration was the tipping point for her to call for Obama’s impeachment. She announced in an op-ed on Breitbart.com that Obama’s “many impeachable offenses” can no longer be ignored.
“It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment,” Palin wrote.
This weekend at the Western Conservative Summit in Colorado, Palin said, regarding Obama’s “dereliction of duty” in enforcing the country’s immigration laws, “if that’s not impeachable, then nothing is. And if he’s not impeachable, no one is.” Palin also said that the threat of impeachment is making Obama a bit “nervous.”
And she emphasized that Republicans needed to stand up for the “Forgotten Man” of all races and backgrounds, including legal immigrants, that Obama’s lawlessness on illegal immigration leaves behind.
She also said that impeachment was meant to be the ultimate check on a lawless executive and noted that the country should discuss impeachment because of how much illegal immigration threatens America’s sovereignty and decimates American workers of all backgrounds. Those are the themes she hammered when initially calling for Obama’s impeachment on Breitbart.com:
The federal government is trillions of dollars in debt; many cities are on the verge of insolvency; our overrun healthcare system, police forces, social services, schools, and our unsustainably generous welfare-state programs are stretched to the max. We average Americans know that. So why has this issue been allowed to be turned upside down with our “leader” creating such unsafe conditions while at the same time obstructing any economic recovery by creating more dependents than he allows producers? His friendly wealthy bipartisan elite, who want cheap foreign labor and can afford for themselves the best “border security” money can buy in their own exclusive communities, do not care that Obama tapped us out.
Have faith that average American workers – native-born and wonderful legal immigrants of all races, backgrounds, and political parties – do care because we’re the ones getting screwed as we’re forced to follow all our government’s rules while others are not required to do so. Many now feel like strangers in their own land. It’s the American worker who is forced to deal with Obama’s latest crisis with our hard-earned tax dollars while middle class wages decrease, sustainable jobs get more scarce, and communities become unrecognizable and bankrupted due to Obama’s flood of illegal immigration.
Who’s looking out for the American workers? Who has their backs? Who fights for them?
A week after Palin called for impeachment, a national poll found that two-thirds of Republicans believed that impeachment was justified and a majority of independents felt that Obama had overstepped his Constitutional authority. Obama was reportedly concerned that his executive overreach on immigration issues could lead to potential impeachment. He reportedly told pro-amnesty activists at the White House recently in a half-joking manner, “You’re not going to get me impeached, are you?”
