Mayor Rahm Emanuel Asks Obama to Send a Thousand Illegals to Chicago

Chicago already has detention facilities for nearly 500 illegal aliens, but Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants one thousand more, all at the taxpayers’ expense.

Late last week, Chicago’s Democrat mayor announced that he intended to expand Chicago’s housing facilities for illegals by 1,000 beds. He also said he wants to expand legal services to illegals for their legal status applications.

“While we have our own challenges at home, we cannot turn our backs on children that are fleeing dangerous conditions. We will do our part to ensure that these children are given access to services and treated fairly and humanely,” Mayor Emanuel said in a statement, according to FoxNews.com.

The Mayor also pointed out that these expanded services, which will include free health care, legal services, food, education, and other social services, will be paid for by federal tax dollars.

Mayoral spokesman Michael Negron said that Emanuel felt that the facilities for these children would best be arranged in places already set up for residential use.

Emanuel’s offer comes as the federal government is seeking places across the country to house tens of thousands of children who have recently arrived with the expectation of taking advantage of an opportunity for amnesty.

Already, reports emerged that hundreds of these children have been placed in the homes of “sponsors” in Indiana without the knowledge of state officials.

The Chicago Tribune reports that over 30,000 “unaccompanied alien children” were “reunited with sponsors from the beginning of 2014 through early July, according to data released last week by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Roughly 300 of them remained in Illinois.”

Chicago’s Mayor Emanuel isn’t alone in the Land of Lincoln; similarly, the Archdiocese of Chicago announced that it, too, is seeking federal permission to take in more illegals in the Windy City.

Also, on July 25, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn pleaded with President Obama to send more illegals to his state.

Illinois, though, is a state in one of the worst conditions in the country, a state that figures in the bottom in every single metric that denotes a successful and healthy state.

Illinois has the worst record for job growth in the entire Midwest, the worst GDP of the region, some of the highest unemployment, the worst funded teachers’ pensions, one of the worst debts, one of the lowest credit ratings, and leads the nation in the number of citizens leaving the state.
