Doctor Arrested for Allegedly Pointing AR-15 at People in Phoenix Airport

On July 25 Dr. Peter Steinmetz was arrested for allegedly pointing an AR-15 at two people in Phoenix’s Sky Harbor Airport.

Steinmetz is a neurological doctor at Barrow Neurological Institute.

According to My Fox Phoenix, Steinmetz was seen walking through a terminal “with an AR-15 style rifle over his shoulder;” however, openly possessing a firearm is not illegal in Arizona. Steinmetz’s alleged crime took place when “he shifted the gun” and it “was aimed at a mother and her 17-year-old daughter who were frightened.”

Steinmetz appeared before a judge for “two counts of disorderly conduct involving a weapon.” He was released on bond, and part of his bond agreement requires that he cannot possess any weapons.

Steinmetz carried his AR-15 into Sky Harbor in November 2013, “but he was not arrested because he did not break the law or threaten anyone.”
