Japanese Schoolgirl Admits Beheading Classmate

A Japanese schoolgirl has confessed to decapitating a classmate because the “wanted to dissect” someone. According to AFP, the 16-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of murdering her 15-year-old classmate after police discovered the dismembered body on a bed in her home.

The girl has admitted strangling to victim before severing her head and left hand. A police investigator said she was “using tools… and something like a cord”.

“The victim was found decapitated, with her left wrist chopped off,” the inspector added, saying that the murder likely happened Saturday evening.

Police discovered tools, including hammers and a saw, at the accused girls’ home. She lived on her own after her mother died last year, but her father and stepmother live in the same city – Sasebo, in the south west of the country.

The girl reportedly told the police: “I wanted to kill someone. I bought tools by myself.”

Violent crime remains relatively rare in Japan, but a number of high-profile cases in recent years have fuelled public fears.

The city of Sasebo previous made headlines when a primary school girl stabbed a classmate to death in 2004, while a man killed seven people in crowded street in Tokyo in 2008.
