Buried in a puffy profile of Allison Grimes, the Kentucky Democrat the media hopes will unseat Mitch McConnell, is the news that Grimes has absolutely no idea what Israel’s Iron Dome does. Regardless, she tried to bluff her way through her ignorance by crediting the Iron Dome for helping Israel “withstand the terrorists that have tried to tunnel their way in.”
The Lexingtonton Herald-Leader buried their own lead in 8th paragraph and under a generic headline:
“Obviously, Israel is one of our strongest allies in the Middle East, and she has the right to defend herself,” Grimes said. “But the loss of life, especially the innocent civilians in Gaza, is a tragedy. The Iron Dome has been a big reason why Israel has been able to withstand the terrorists that have tried to tunnel their way in.
“My hope is that a cease-fire can be structured. Ultimately, I think the long-term solution though is not one we can impose. It has to come from within. It’s a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine.”
Grimes, Kentucky’s current Secretary of State, obviously has no idea that Israel’s Iron Dome is a defense system that intercepts and shoots down incoming rockets from Gaza. It has nothing to do with anything on the ground, least of all Gaza’s terror tunnels.
Grimes should consider herself lucky she’s a Democrat. Were she a Republican looking to unseat a Democrat, America’s state-loving mainstream media and comedian class would have already laughed her off the stage.
