Nancy Pelosi: Use Border Crisis to 'More Quickly' Pass Amnesty Bill

On Tuesday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said Congress should use the border crisis to pass comprehensive amnesty legislation.

At a Congressional Progressive Caucus hearing on the border crisis, Pelosi said the influx of illegal immigrant juveniles is more reason to pass an amnesty bill that Democrats in the Senate like Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) have said they want to attach to the House’s border bill.

“We should move quickly to pass comprehensive immigration reform,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi has previously said that she would rather pass comprehensive amnesty legislation than regain her Speakership, and she emphasized at the hearing that America had to “give every person rights who is in our country.” She said the House’s border bill does not give illegal immigrant juveniles the “representation” they need before they can be considered for deportation.
