Majority of Americans Believe Obama Wants to Give Illegals Amnesty

A new Rasmussen poll shows that the majority of Americans think that President Obama is doing a poor job handling the immigration crisis on our southern border. A majority also believe Obama intends to give amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.

The poll released on July 31, found that 54 percent of likely U.S. voters want to send most illegals back to their countries of origin. Only 36 percent think the government should slow the deportation process.

Rasmussen also found that “only 22% believe the President is interested in doing what most voters want–sending most of the new illegal immigrants home. Fifty-four percent (54%) believe he is more interested in letting most of them stay in the United States.”

Also, among those likely voters who favor deportation, 63 percent believe Obama intends to allow them all to stay.

Only a scant 22 percent believe the President is doing a good job handling the immigration crisis.

Further, 46 percent believe that Obama’s own policies have brought hundreds of thousands of illegals to our borders. And even as his administration is secretly distributing thousands of illegals across the country without telling local governments, the polling finds that most Americans do not want the illegals in their area.

Finally, the majority, 58 percent, believe that controlling the border is the most important first step in this crisis. But even so, only 7 percent believe the government has any intention of doing so.
