RNC Slams Obama for 401st Fundraiser

President Obama will host his 401st fundraiser as president Monday, according to a tally from the Washington Examiner.

Obama is scheduled to deliver remarks at a fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee during his vacation on Martha’s Vineyard Monday evening.

Since taking office in 2009, the commander-in-chief has hosted 400 fundraisers. Monday’s will be his 401st and according to the Republican National Committee, Obama has “set the record for attending more fundraisers than any other President in modern history.”

Monday morning, RNC Chief of Staff Mike Sheilds criticized Obama for acting as “Fundraiser-in-Chief” instead of “Commander-in-Chief” in an email to supporters.

According to Sheilds, Obama has held 72 more fundraisers than President George W. Bush did his entire time in office.

“But with all that is going on at home and abroad right now, the last thing the President should be doing is fundraising,” Sheilds wrote.

“Now is a time for leadership. And under President Obama, it’s sorely missing There are crisis occurring around the world — and a humanitarian crisis on our own U.S.-Mexico border. There’s the IRS targeting and cover-up scandal,” he added. “And there’s the ObamaCare plan debacle — with another one on the horizon.”

Friday White House Spokesman Josh Earnest assured that Obama would be able to continue working while on Martha’s Vineyard.

“[A]s we always say, the President will be traveling to Massachusetts with an array of communications equipment and national security advisors and other to ensure that he has the capacity to make the kinds of decisions that are required for the Commander-in-Chief,” Earnest told reports during the White House briefing. “And if there’s a need for the President to return to the White House, it’s not a long flight from Martha’s Vineyard back to the Washington, D.C.”

Obama recently criticized congressional Republicans for suing him for executive overreach, saying the time they spent on the lawsuit prevented them from addressing the needs of the American people.

“Every vote they’re taking like that, means a vote they’re not taking to actually help you,” Obama said.
