White House: Obama and Hillary Have a History of Hugs

Deputy Press Secretary Eric Schultz explained to reporters that President Obama was still friends with Hillary Clinton — even though she chided his foreign policy during a recent interview.

Clinton called Obama after the interview to patch things up, according to a statement from a Clinton spokesman Nick Merrill, and planed to hug it out at an event at Martha’s Vineyard.

After a White House reporter asked Schultz if the press would be allowed into the birthday party to witness the hug themselves, he shot down the idea.

Schultz added that Obama and Clinton were “very close friends” after a heated primary, had a “strong partnership,” and Obama “values her opinion” and the two “talk socially,” Schultz said. “I’m sure they talk about the pressing issues of the day as well.”
