Senators Call For 'Demilitarized' Police Response in Missouri

Two U.S. Senators, a Republican and a Democrat, are calling for a “demilitarized” police force in response to the conflicts in Ferguson, Missouri between protestors and police officers.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) also addressed the situation in a TIME op-ed titled “We Must Demilitarize the Police.”

President Obama did not address the militarization of the police force, but cautioned them from using excessive force.
