Sister of Boston Marathon Bombers Arrested for Making Bomb Threat

The sister of the suspected Boston Marathon bombers was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly making her own bomb threat.

Ailina Tsarnaev was reportedly arrested after threatening the mother of her boyfriend’s child.

“She made phone threats against another female saying, ‘I know people who can go over there and put a bomb on you,'” New York City police Lt. Paul Ng told the Boston Herald.

Tsarnaev was arrested in New York City after surrendering to the 30th Precinct in Harlem and being charged with aggravated harassment, according to a WABC report, which added that she was released “on a desk appearance ticket.”

According to the local ABC affiliate, the woman Tsarnaev threatened is currently in a custody battle with Tsarnaev’s boyfriend, who — according to the Boston Globe, is also the father of one of Tsarnaev’s children.

The Boston Globe reports Tsarnaev was also arrested in 2010 for impeding a counterfeiting investigation and failing to appear for her court date. She was said to know the people who were passing fake currency.

Tsarnaev’s brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were the alleged bombers of the 2013 Boston Marathon that killed three and injured more than 260. In their ensuing escape, the pair also allegedly killed MIT police officer Sean Collier.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev died in a shootout with police, and Dzhokhar is pleading not guilty to the numerous charges against him.
