Border Agents Seize 3,370 Pounds of Marijuana Hidden in Christmas Bow Shipment

A Mexican citizen detained at the Otay Mesa, Calif. Cargo Facility, driving a Kenworth tractor-trailer might just have landed on Santa’s naughty list.

According to Customs and Border Protection, Thursday a 28-year old Mexican approached the port of entry purporting to ship Christmas bows.

When the tractor-trailer was referred for additional screening, however, CBP officers discovered marijuana in the boxes of bows.

In all, according to officials, there were 209 packages of marijuana, weighing 3,370 pounds with an estimated value of $1.5 million.

CBP reports the unnamed driver was arrested and the CBP seized the tractor, trailer, and the marijuana.
