Alleged heartland beheader Alton Nolen has an “assalamu alaikum” tattoo, reports the Huffington Post.
“According to Oklahoma’s Department of Corrections online records, Nolen has a tattoo that says ‘assalamu alaikum,’ an Arabic greeting that translates to ‘peace be with you.'”
According to Moore, Oklahoma Police Department Sgt. Jeremy Lewis, Nolen beheaded Vaughan Foods co-worker Colleen Hufford after recently trying to convert fellow coworkers to Islam before he was fired by his employer.
“After conducting interviews with co-workers of Nolen’s, information was obtained that he recently started to convert some of his co-workers to the Muslim religion,” said Sgt. Lewis during a Friday afternoon press conference.
Nolen’s criminal record includes several drug charges and assault and battery against a police officer.
President Barack Obama has yet to issue a statement on the Oklahoma beheading and is scheduled to headline a Democratic National Committee roundtable fundraiser at 4:30 p.m. today.
