David Vitter: Thomas Perez Might Be Worse than Eric Holder

Amidst reports that Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez is on the short list for President Obama’s next Attorney General, his longtime critics are rising up in opposition.

That includes Sen. David Vitter (R-LA), a long time Perez foe, who announced plans to block his confirmation hearing after Obama nominated him as Labor Secretary in 2013.

Vitter was critical of Perez after a 2011 fight in Louisiana when the Justice Department filed a lawsuit against the state.

Vitter also cited an incident of the Department Of Justice’s Civil Rights division, under Perez, for targeting the Bossier Parish Young Marines’ Program in 2013.

If Obama does nominate Perez, expect a real fight from Senate Republicans ahead of his confirmation hearing.

Anti-labor groups are also speaking out against Perez, critical of his actions as Secretary of Labor.

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton also spoke out against Perez.

The National Right to Work Foundation’s Patrick Semmens also spoke to the Free Beacon about a potential Perez nomination.
