Tillis Ad Ties Hagan to Obama Foreign Policy: 'We Can't Let Our Kids Die in Vain'

Republican state House Speaker Thom Tilllis is out with a new television campaign ad, tying Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) to President Obama’s foreign policy.

In the 30 second spot released Friday, a Union County mother of four and retired Air Force nurse, Lt. Colonel Nancy Anderson (Ret.) speaks about her family’s service and the difficulties not just of war, but of sending children war.

“I’ve been active duty, a reservist, and dependent wife,” Anderson says in the ad. “Today I have the toughest job. Mother of a Marine.  Going to war was hard; but not as hard as sending your kids off to war.”

“It makes me so mad to see how the President’s weakness has allowed the Islamic State to grow. And Senator Hagan just goes right along with him,” she continues. “We can’t let our kids die in vain. We have to change our Senator.”

According to the Tillis campaign, Hagan has voted with Obama 96 percent of the time.

“President Obama’s foreign policy is a disaster that has made America less safe,” Tillis said in a statement Friday accompanying the ad. “North Carolina deserves a Senator who will stand up to President Obama and insist on a stronger foreign policy and stronger leadership to eliminate the Islamic State.”
