New Emails: Latest Episode in Clinton War on Women

With the Democratic machine revving up to install its selected X Chromosome Queen Hillary Clinton as president in 2016, the media have revved up the most hackneyed narrative of the last six years: the war on women. Once again, Democrats and media members proclaim from the highest rooftops that women are victims of a brutal and uncaring American society that pays them less, rapes them on college campuses, and abuses them in the home. None of that is true – women who are young, single and childless earn 8 percent more than men in 147 out of 150 major American cities, and rape and abuse are down dramatically over the last two decades.

It has never been better to be an American woman.

Unless you get in Hillary’s way. Then, the war on women comes directly to your front door.

That, at least, is the message from former Clinton hit man Sidney Blumenthal. According to new uncovered emails from the Clinton Presidential Library, Blumenthal tried to plant smear stories on journalists including Lucianne Goldberg and Bill Kristol after the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal broke. Writing to then-editor of The Nation David Corn, Blumenthal asked, “Do you want to do a story about Lucianne Goldberg? She was sued about ten years ago by Kitty Kelley for stealing a lot of money from her. Lucianne was her agent and made off with more than $20,000. It went to trial and Lucianne lost and was forced to pay back all the stolen lucre.”

As for Kristol, Blumenthal informed Corn that “Kristol is linked to the plotters.”

Blumenthal’s smear of Goldberg is hardly the only time that Clinton defenders have turned the guns on female obstacles to the Clinton dynasty. Hillary herself defended her husband’s behavior – according to ABC News, Hillary attributed Clinton’s serial philandering to “pressures of the job, personal tragedies… and her inability to be free enough to be there for him.” Hillary called Lewinsky a “narcissistic loony toon” and credited her husband with having the forethought to try to “break it off” and “manage” his lover. Hillary also told a friend that Lewinsky’s activities were not “sex within any real meaning (standup, liedown, oral, etc.) of the term.”

Blumenthal did Hillary’s dirty work, attempting to smear Lewinsky to the press. Christopher Hitchens said in an affidavit in 1999, “Mr. Blumenthal stated that Monica Lewinsky had been a ‘stalker’ and that the president was ‘the victim’ of a predatory and unstable sexually demanding young woman…Referring to Ms. Lewinsky, Mr. Blumenthal used the words ‘stalker’ several times. Mr. Blumenthal advised us that this version of the facts was not generally understood.” Hitchens continued, “I have knowledge that Mr. Blumenthal recounted to other people in the journalistic community the same story about Monica Lewinsky that he told to me.”

Blumenthal apparently attacked another of Clinton’s former targets Kathleen Willey; he told Hitchens “that Kathleen Willey’s poll numbers were high but would fall and would not look so good in a few days.” Willey would later claim that she was the subject of “Terror, a terrible smear campaign, intimidation.” She blamed Hillary for that smear campaign as well: “This is about what Hillary Clinton is doing to women like me so that she can attain the presidency. She wants us all to be quiet.”

It didn’t stop at Willey, either. In 1999, Juanita Broaddrick, who accused President Clinton of raping her in 1978, filed a lawsuit against the administration for an alleged “smear campaign.” And in 1992, Hillary allegedly vowed to “crucify” Gennifer Flowers for having an affair with her husband, even allegedly hiring private investigator Jack Pallandino to target Flowers.

The notion that Hillary Clinton and the Clinton campaign machine are advocates for women insults the intelligence of the American people. Fortunately, the media are perfectly willing to play along.
