Oregon First Lady Admits Purchasing Land for Illegal Pot Grow After Secret Marriage

Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber’s (D) fiancée–Cylvia Hayes–admits to having a secret marriage and jointly buying land for “an illegal marijuana grow operation.”

On October 9 she admitted to the secret marriage which lasted “from 1997 to 2001” and, following her admission, a public records search turned up details on the land purchase.

According to KOIN, Hayes “married an Ethiopian man solely to help him become a US citizen.” Hayes says she received money “for entering… [the] fraudulent marriage,” and she used the money to “purchase a lap top and pay school expenses.”

Four months into the marriage with the Ethiopian man, Hayes and a boyfriend bought a piece of land “in remote Washington state… near the Canadian border.” She says the land was “intended to be the site of a marijuana grow operation that never materialized.”

Patrick Seimion sold the land to Hayes and her boyfriend and says, “There’s was somewhat of a leader/follower there, and she was leading and the gentlemen was following.”

Gov. Kitzhaber is currently running for re-election against Republican challenger Dennis Richardson.

On the Issues shows that Kitzhaber supports medical marijuana and allowing states, not the federal government, to make drug policy.
