NJ Gov Christie Rearranged Schedule to Appear with Mitt Romney

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was so intent on being seen with Mitt Romney on Tuesday that he rearranged his personal schedule at the last second to do so.

Governor Christie was originally supposed to have appeared at a rally in Connecticut for the Nutmeg State’s Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley. But late on Monday Christie’s office announced a change of plans.

Instead of going to Connecticut, Christie ended up appearing at an event celebrating the launch of the Ann Romney Center for Neurological Diseases. On Tuesday evening Christie and his wife attended a dinner for the launch in Boston.

This is the second time in as many months that Governor Christie appeared with the Romneys.

The Star-Ledger speculates that the quick change of scheduling is more evidence that Christie is laying the groundwork for a run for president in 2016, and he wants to be seen with the previous GOP nominee as much as possible in order to wipe from minds his politically disastrous embrace of Barack Obama just prior to the 2012 elections.

The repeated appearances with the Romneys, Republican strategist Kevin Madden told the paper, are meant to assure voters that Romney “didn’t take it personal” when Christie gave Obama that fateful hug just before the 2012 elections.
