Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) plans to travel to Alaska this weekend to campaign for Dan Sullivan, the Republican challenger to Democratic Sen. Mark Begich. And another GOP big name will also stump for Sullivan. Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney will also reportedly appear with Sullivan and Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell (R) near Anchorage next week.
According to The Washington Post, Cruz will team up with Sullivan for campaign rallies in Anchorage, the Mat-Su Valley, Fairbanks and the Kenai Peninsula on Saturday and Sunday.
Sullivan needs a strong showing from a motivated Republican base to beat Begich, who is campaigning furiously across the state.Sullivan has grabbed a lead against Begich in several recent polls after he won a late three-way Republican primary.
