Jeanne Shaheen on Ties to Clinton's George Stephanopoulos: 'No, No Comment'

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire — Incumbent Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen refused to address concerns being raised about her personal and her campaign operatives’ longtime political ties to Thursday night’s New Hampshire Senate debate moderator, George Stephanopoulos.

“No, no comment,” Shaheen said when asked by Breitbart News at a press conference on the revelations after former Sen. Scott Brown said he had “concerns” about it on Wednesday morning on Fox News.

On Tuesday, Breitbart News reported that top Shaheen campaign operative Mandy Grunwald has ties with Stephanopoulos back to their days on the 1992 Bill Clinton presidential campaign. Then on Wednesday, Breitbart News reported that in 1996 Clinton sent Stephanopoulos as an emissary to New Hampshire to accept the endorsement of Shaheen–then a state senator–and several other Democrats.

Stephanopoulos now works for ABC News and has a history of flubbing debates in favor of Democrats, most notably in a 2012 GOP primary debate in New Hampshire. At that debate, Stephanopoulos inserted into the conversation questions about contraception–something nobody was talking about–a move that is largely considered the start of the “war on women” Democrat talking point that helped incumbent Democrat President Barack Obama defeat GOP candidate Mitt Romney.

Stephanopoulos has not responded to multiple requests for comment from Breitbart News about what steps he is taking to make sure he is fair and honest in Thursday’s debate. An ABC News spokesperson confirmed, despite not commenting specifically, that Stephanopoulos received Breitbart News’ requests for comment and forwarded them on to her.
