Colorado Governor: 'I'm Open To A Discussion' About Arming Teachers In Schools

On November 17, Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper (D) says his state must do everything it can to keep kids safe and he is “open to [a] discussion” on arming teachers.

According to CBS Denver, Hickelooper said: “The ability of people to defend themselves in a world that increasingly looks chaotic (is important). There is not a parent in this state that doesn’t want to be sure we’re doing everything possible to keep their kid safe.”

This news comes on the heels of a re-election Hickenlooper “narrowly won.” A re-election “considerably hampered” by Hickenlooper’s support of gun control in 2013.

On February 6, Breitbart News reported Quinnipiac poll numbers showing “fifty percent of Coloradans [supported] allowing teachers and school officials [with a concealed carry permit] to carry guns on campus.”

KKTV reports that the idea of armed teachers in Colorado schools has continued “picking up steam” and that “several hundred Colorado teachers went to a concealed carry class” earlier in November.
