Hours before President Barack Obama speaks to the nation about his long anticipated executive actions on immigration, House Speaker John Boehner has released a video statement chastising the president for going at it alone.
“Instead of working together to fix our broken immigration system, the president says he’s acting on his own,” Boehner says in the video. “That’s just not how our democracy works.”
Boehner then slammed Obama for acting as a “king” and “emperor.”
“The president has said before that ‘he’s not king’ and he’s ‘not an emperor,’ but he’s sure acting like one. And he’s doing it a time when the American people want nothing more than for us to work together.”
Thursday night Obama will announce his executive actions on immigration, which will reportedly include granting legal status to some 5 million illegal immigrants.
