On December 2 a Birmingham, Alabama, business owner shot one alleged burglar and slapped a second, before telling him to get off the property.
According to AL.com, an auto repair shop owner had formed the habit of spending the night in his business because of “ongoing burglary attempts” and was there at 5 a.m. when two suspects climbed the fence around his building. The shop owner shot one of the suspects then slapped the second and told him to get off his property.
Both suspects fled afterward, but the one which had been shot “was dropped off at UAB hospital” where he underwent surgery for “life-threatening” injuries.
Acquaintances of the suspects said it was well-known the business owner was spending the night at the repair shop. They said would-be burglars had been warned.
