The son of of murdered NYC police officer Rafael Ramos, 13-year-old Jaden Ramos took to his Facebook page to express his profound grief at the tragic lost of his father.
“Today is the worst day of my life. Today I had to say bye to my father. He was (there) for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It’s horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and I will never forget you. RIP Dad.”
Meanwhile, NYC police officers turner their backs to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio as he entered for the official press conference to announce the slayings. Maybe believe de Blasio abandoned the police when he appeared to side with anti-police protesters over the death of Michael Brown and Eric Garner.
On Saturday, Ramos and Officer Wenjian Liu were assigned to an area of the borough that has more crime than their usual beat in downtown Brooklyn, police said.
Police identified the gunman as Ismaaiyl Brinsley. Witnesses saw Brinsley walk to the car and assume what they described as a shooting stance. New York Police Commissioner William Bratton said Brinsley fired several times. Ramos and Liu were shot in the head.
