A woman in Tampa, Florida, has set the record for the heaviest baby born at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. It was just as surprising to the woman as the pregnancy itself, because for 35 weeks, she didn’t even know she was pregnant.

Maxxzandra Ford, the mother of little Avery, realized that she was gaining weight at a pretty fast clip and went to the doctors to find out what was going on. She was shocked to find out she was 35 weeks pregnant.

But the pregnancy wasn’t the only big surprise for Ford. When Avery arrived on the scene at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital in Tampa, he weighed in at a whopping 14.1 pounds—a record for the hospital and the state both.

Ford, the mother of two other children, gave birth naturally to the 14.1-pound baby boy on January 29.

“It was really bad compared to my daughter and AJ’s delivery,” Ford said of the arduous birth.

After the birth, when she asked what her baby weighed, she was startled by her doctor’s reply.

“They were like, ‘Your baby weighed 14 pounds and one ounce,'” Ford said. “‘What!? My baby weighed what?!’ They were like, ‘Your baby is adorably huge,'” she added.

“I’ve got a linebacker instead of a fullback,” Avery’s father said.

According to reports, only one in one thousand babies born weigh over 14 pounds.
